Facebook now heads on to the manual reviewing of the ads. As per the resources obtained by Axios, an email sent to advertisers which involves reviewing of ads that are targeted to people based on “politics, religion, ethnicity or social issues” manually. Most of the Facebook ads are bought and uploaded to the site through an automated system.
With this update, advertisers are likely to experience a delay prior to the start of ad delivery, although steps will be taken to overcome this. Upcoming campaigns with ad sets contain targeting options that will need warrant additional review (especially those associated with topics such as politics, religion, ethnicity and social issues) and will be routed for manual review prior to being approved. Mark Warner and Amy Klobuchar are working on a bill that will increase the disclosure requirements for digital political ads.
